The access to information portal provides Canadian citizens with information. Any person can ask the government agencies for information on any topic. The agencies will respond with a report.
This presents several challenges for the government agencies and citizens looking for information.
This solution provided different components to address the two needs identified by the end user:
The combination of these two components now allows users to find existing information, thus reducing the need for additional requests. If no existing report is available, the system will recommend a list of departments that have a higher probability of providing information. This should result in fewer requests going to the wrong departments and less requests being sent to the government agencies overall.
The platform takes advantage of the Microsoft Azure cloud platform and uses a long list of services and technologies. The end result is scalable and flexible while providing a good solution for the client needs.
